Joran van der Sloot admits to extortion in Natalee Holloway case

Joran van der Sloot is in the news again, this time in conjunction with a confession.
AOL News reports that van der Sloot confessed to a Dutch newspaper that he had, in fact, extorted money from Natalee Holloway’s family in exchange for revealing the location of her body. Van der Sloot was indicted in June on charges of extortion during an FBI sting, but the disclosed burial location turned out to be empty.

The paper quoted van der Sloot as saying that he extorted money from the Holloways as a form of revenge because they had been making his life horrible since Natalee disappeared in 2005.
Van der Sloot has also been charged with killing Stephany Flores in Lima, Peru back in May.

Leonard Shafer’s named popped up at the end of last night’s “Pawn Stars,” a show about a father and son and grandson who run a Las Vegas pawn shop. A note flashed at the end of the episode saying that it was in memory of Shafer, but many fans of the show had no idea who he was. That prompted them to burn up the internet with inquiries about Leonard Shafer, Leonard Shaffer and “Pawn Stars,” with some even going into a panic wondering if Shafer’s death would bring about the show’s end.
Let’s lay that one to rest first: No. “Pawn Stars” is continuing. Father Richard Harrison, son Rick Harrison and grandson Corey Harrison are all just fine and Shafer was not a member of their family. So then who was Leonard Shafer?
It appears he was a coin collector who was featured on the hit show several times. He was from California, and according to coininfo.com, he was a NGC authorized dealer based in Burbank.
Information beyond that is sketchy. He wasn’t famous or a reality star; one viewer did note he was born on D-Day. There’s no indication that “Pawn Stars” plans a special tribute to Shafer beyond last night’s mention.

The PS3 firmware 3.42 is now available for your downloading pleasure, and while it does not add any functionality (at first glance anyways) to your system apart from the standard "system software stability" area, it will be required if you want to continue accessing the PlayStation Network or the PlayStation Store. Some folks speculate that this update might be a response to the jailbreak tool that made headlines recently - hit us with a comment if you've performed the jailbreak only to get locked in once again with firmware 3.42 installed.

Google Logo September 7 2010 – New Google Doodle HTML5 Balls – Google has a new doodle that was unveiled just moments ago. Thus far we have no idea what it is, but it is a great treat where you can spend hours chasing after colorful balls that regroup to write the word Google.
It might be a new game or it symbolizes some great event or could be a way to celebrate the anniversary of some neat invention. Or it could be a way for Google to celebrate their birthday – the company was founded on September 4, 1998.


Either way it is a fun way to kill time and just play with the little balls. Just like Google’s Buckyballs celebration doodle which drove many users insane and caused many people to lose money, those cute bouncy HTML5 balls are fun and and will make people be unproductive, the Pac Man game did the same thing few months ago.
